James Trumbly
Marketing Director, CEO
As the Founder of Hometown Marketing Group, Inc., James is responsible for strategic planning and overall project management.
After serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, James left the ranks as a Sergeant. Shortly thereafter he completed his degree in Social Psychology from Park University. During this process, James realized his passion for understanding individuals and had a strong desire to help business owners overcome the dilemmas of marketing their business and the costs involved with that. In July 2004, James developed an online community portal for North County residents (411NorthCounty.com) which gives merchants a way to advertise throughout their local communities without spending all their profits. While doing this he realized that there was a need for a marketing firm that was truly a One-Stop-Shop and expanded his company, HMG, into a full service marketing firm. James has surrounded himself with a solid group of individuals that are relentless in their client’s successes, they are known as the Hometown Marketing Team.
"Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."
Vince Lombardi - Hall of Fame Football Coach

Bert Chiu
Design Guru
Bert's talents were evident when he was a toddler doodling on sketchpads and drooling on countertops. Always having an interest in design and three-dimensional form, he started out playing with Legos and ended up designing cars for Nissan and Mazda. Upon leaving the traditional corporate world, he succumbed to the call of the dotcom craze and employed his trusty Mac computer to clients in the high-tech sector during the "Big Boom", or "Bust" - depending on how you viewed the era.
Equally versed in traditional design as with the modern digital mediums, Bert brings over a decade of varied design experience to HMG.
Having owned a promotional products business during the mid-90s, Bert has designed graphics for clients from the automotive industry to zoological associations. With skills in both print and web design, his focus is on high-end creativity for HMG clients; but he also delves into the entrepreneurial realm with personal projects that challenge his expertise and multi-disciplinary background.
His goal as the Design Guru with HMG is to take the company to the pinnacle of design expertise, raising the bar of creativity for its many valued clients. In the short time he has been part of the company, this metamorphosis has already begun to take root, and the growth will be even more evident in the coming year. In addition to design, Bert also enjoys piano improvisation, scratch model-building and architectural design. |
